This is Teldon's Rewatch Reviews of America's Best Dance Crew Season 2's Eighties Theme Challenge. Thanks again, Teldon!
---------------------------------------------------------------
CHALLENGE #1: GROOVE STEP CHALLENGE
Super Cr3w dancing to The Humpty Dance
Task: Perform the move with only 4 feet on the floor
What I liked- One of the sickest openings I ever saw on the show. The partner work in the middle and end was framed well. The timing for everything was there in this routine. Finally, they handled the extra dance moves like they had always been doing it.
What I did not like- While the tower looked neat it took away from the routine. I blame a whack challenge on that one and don't take away from them. Also the level of difficulty I expect from these guys seemed just a bit below what they normally give.
SoReal Cru dancing to Kid N' Play
Task: Create a chain reaction during the routine
What I liked- They showed some good versatility in their routine.
What I did not like- It was all over the map. I really could not tell what was going on. This did not LOOK like one of their normal routines and had no personality.
Fanny Pak dancing to Vanilla Ice
Task: Perform the move horizontally
What I liked- Best energy out of the three crews and brought the 80s vibe to the routine. But honestly what did you expect from an 80s themed crew? The floor work was amazingly clean and well put together. The ending where they played on the classic "Word to Your Mother" was brilliant.
What I did not like- Some timing issues throughout the first 2/3rds of the performance
------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHALLENGE #2: 80's DANCE MOVIE CHALLENGE
SoReal Cru dancing to "Tour de France" from the movie Breakin'
What I liked- As par for the course they break out a groin-grabbingly good intro. The visual effect from the mirror alone was amazing and well thought out. The use of the broom props was also well done and for the most part together.
What I did not like- They lost me in the middle. I had no idea what was going on there.
---------------------------------------------
The bottom two
Did America, er I mean the producers, get it right? America did get it right. They voted Fanny Pak safe from week 7. However, in one of the biggest moments of Bull#### for the show they decided to switch to cumulative voting at the last second, thus making SoReal Cru safe.
Super Cr3w dancing to "Footloose" from the movie Footloose
What I liked- Again they showed that when they do partner work they do it perfectly. They had some really good transitions in it as well.
What I did not like- Hate to say it but maybe it was just the movie they got handed but it was boring. They really didn't update anything and again this was not up to the level of difficulty they have shown in past performances.
Fanny Pak dancing to "Maniac" from the movie Flashdance
What I liked- Out of the three tonight they were the only ones to truly update the movie scene they had to use. Good use of recreating the opening and amazing floor work yet again.
What I did not like- Timing errors throughout the routine
Did the judges get it right? Yes they did; again Fanny Pak was saved. However the producers wanted Super Cr3w saved. Guess who got saved? This is seriously the biggest BULL#### decision made by the producers ever. It is great that they wanted regional diversity again for the finale but it did a disservice to SoReal, Super Cr3w and to Fanny Pak because of it. All it did was turn fans against the show. Thankfully this is the last time that producer BULL#### comes into play this badly. Because it the top three in the next two seasons falls where it will for a change.
----------------------------------------------------------
Thoughts on the eliminated crew- What can I say this group is perhaps the best crew to ever grace the stage. No crew to come on the show since them has risen to their level of creativity and skill. As with Kaba you got screwed over and I am glad you were my pony this season.
Thoughts on the episode as a whole- Bull#### aside this was one of the best episodes all season. For the first time in all five seasons the safe crew actually did a good job that
held up to the other two performances. It sucks that it ended that way but thems the breaks.
